Policies & Procedures
Our goal is to engage our learning community at point of need in support of 21st century life-long learning skills
- The Media Center can accommodate two classes at a time--sign up with the Media Specialist at least three days prior to the requested schedule date
- A Collaboration Form must be filled out with the Media Specialist prior to scheduling the Media Center
- Teachers remain with their students during their class-time in the Media Center
- If you are absent, please have an alternative lesson plan for your substitute--please do not schedule a substitute to bring your class to the Media Center
- Teachers scheduled to use the Media Center--students meet in your classroom before coming to the Media Center
- Students need a pass from you if they are leaving the Media Center during your time in the Center
- The last 10 minutes of class will be time to collect the students and return to your classroom
- Training for online resources, including DESTINY and our district databases, as well as technology, bibliography creation and/or Web 2.0 tools can take place periodically during the school year--training is also available upon request
- Overdue notices will be printed periodically and given to 1st period teachers--please help students remember their obligations
- Faculty may submit book requests at anytime; the book order is usually placed the first part of the year, and utilizes District Guidelines
- Faculty checkout: there is no time limit for materials--you will receive a list of items checked out under your name over the course of the school year
- Faculty must turn in all materials when circulation is closed at the end of the school year
- Passes: Teachers can send two students at a time to the Media Center
- Each student must have their own completed pass and a plan for their time in the Media Center
- Students will be sent back to class the last 10 minutes of the class period
- Students do not need a pass before or after school, or during lunch, unless they are volunteering or are in the Center for tutoring
- Students should have their student ID to check out materials
- Students may check out three books for two weeks--exceptions may be arranged with Ms. Hahn
- Overdue fines are 10 cents per day, and all fines must be paid before checking out additional materials
- Students will receive a receipt for payment (list price) of a lost or damaged book
- If a lost book is paid for, and then found, a refund will be issued minus late fees
- unpaid books and fines will be turned in as obligations at the end of the school year
